How we can help
We work with HMP Berwyn (Wrexham) prison to reduce suicide and self-harm in the prison.
If you'd like to talk to someone face-to-face in a quiet, private space, we're open weekdays 10am-6pm, weekends 10am-1pm.
Whatever you're going through, a Samaritan will face it with you. Nationally we're here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We regularly visit local primary schools to talk about the vital importance of keeping emotionally healthy.
Chester and District Samaritans have been willingly giving their time to help people in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Neston, Wrexham and Deeside for more than 50 years, every day of the year.
In 2018 we answered 21,445 phone calls, sent 8641 emails and texts and met people in our branch 28 times. We also support and reach out to people outside of the branch as often as possible. And we're really proud to be part of the hugely respected national charity Samaritans, who drive our campaigns; the latest being ' Real People, Real Stories' with our partners Network Rail and British Transport Police (March 2019 and ongoing). We really enjoyed handing out tea bags during the 3rd year of Brew Monday January 19 too!
Could you be a listening volunteer to support people when they most need it? Or help us as a fundraising Friend to raise the £85 a day it costs to keep our branch running (some of this comes from kind donations), contribute to the costs of our freecall number and publicise our community activities? If you would like to organise or support a fundraising event we'd love to hear from you!
Meanwhile, do consider using easyfundraising every time you shop online to generate funds to help run our branch - at no cost at all to you! If you prefer, please use the 'Donate to this branch' link below.
