A message from our Branch Director Susie Higgs

"Thank you for visiting our website. I became our volunteer Branch Director on 1st April 2020. All throughout the Coronavirus pandemmic we have continued to provide support to those who need us. We are one of the 201 Samaritans Branches operating throughout the UK and ROI. Our branch is located in central Swindon and has been running for nearly 60 years, meaning we have a wealth of local understanding that enables us to reach out locally to everyone who needs us. We have almost 100 listening volunteers and 15 support volunteers who live and work across our area – from Faringdon, Lechlade and Cricklade to Marlborough, Devizes and Pewsey and all the surrounding areas in between.

Alongside answering calls and emails from people who need our support, in non-Coronavirus times, we are also active in the community. Covid-19 restrictions allowing we will be attending Swindon and Wiltshire Pride 2021

Our volunteers are also available to deliver presentations about our work and emotional health to schools, workplaces, clubs and organisations.”

Swindon Samaritan Shop now open!

Great news! Our shop reopened on Thursday 3rd June. To find out more, how to volunteer in our shop, how to donate items to our shop etc please see here Swindon Samaritans Charity Shop

Volunteering with us at our Swindon Branch

Like all of our branches, we are run entirely by volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering please contact us via the “volunteer at this branch” link below.

Listening Volunteer Role

Here in Swindon we have recently had a large number of applications for the listening volunteer role. We really appreciate there is so much interest from our local community in volunteering with us at such a difficult time. Unfortunately the number of applications received, currently exceeds our capacity to recruit and train listening volunteers and this means there will be a lengthy delay in processing your application. However, please do still register your interest with us, as applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Please be assured we are working hard to process applications as quickly as possible.

Shop Volunteers wanted!

We are hoping to reopen our charity shop in Curtis Street, Swindon at the beginning of June but we need some more volunteers to get it up and running, can you help???

Can you spare a few hours a week to help keep our shop running? Would you like to find out more? Follow this link Shop Volunteer Role

Volunteer Driver

Can you spare 2 or 3 hours a week? We are looking for a volunteer driver to help manage our shop donations with weekly recycling runs. You would have a clean drivers licence and be aged 21 or over. Please contact us via the “volunteer at this branch” link below.
