Peterborough Samaritans has been supporting Peterborough and the surrounding area for 50 years.
What's going on in Peterborough?
As well as delivering our listening service, we support HMP Peterborough and HMP North Sea Camp by training prisoners to provide emotional support to their peers.
Our Outreach team regularly deliver talks and/or training at schools, local employers and community groups. And of course, we host the occasional fundraiser.
Want to volunteer?
Our city is multi cultural and wonderfully diverse. We are actively seeking to attain more diversity in our volunteer workforce and warmly welcome applications from people of all ethnic backgrounds.
We are always on the lookout for new volunteers either to provide emotional support or behind the scenes to help the branch run. Why not join us and help make a real difference to peoples lives, be part of a large community and learn new skills that are relevant to work and everyday life.
We hold regular information sessions for people interested in volunteering and these are the dates we are running them. They are all online events.
- Sunday 25th June 2023 at 1000
- Thursday 27th July 2023 at 1900
- Sunday 24th September 2023 at 1000
- Thursday 26th October 2023 at 1900
- Sunday 26th November 2023 at 1000
Each information session gives you an idea of what exactly Samaritans do, how we are trained, the type of calls you will have to deal with and how to help people in distress who need someone to talk to at difficult times in their life.
If you'd like to hear more call us on 01733 807327 (answerphone) or email: [email protected] We are especially interested in volunteers who can help us with IT.
