We are Brighton, Hove and District Samaritans.

We are 200 local volunteers dedicated to bringing Samaritans' support to individuals and organisations, particularly those at higher risk of suicide or working with vulnerable groups.
We cover a wide area across Brighton and Hove and Sussex providing a listening service to so that our callers feel heard, in control, and less alone by answering over 2,500 calls every month and through our community outreach.
Every day and night we are here for anyone who is struggling so that fewer people die by suicide.
Collaborating with local partners, we also join large events like Pride and TransPride to raise awareness of our service, promote the value of emotional support, and attract a wide range of volunteers that reflect our diverse community.
We work in prisons, with local community groups, in our colleges and universities and across the railway network. Our unique ‘Learn to Listen Like a Samaritan’ emotional health and wellbeing workshops are available to organisations.
We raise all of our funds ourselves to stay open 24/7 and serve our community. It costs £165 a day and we welcome one off and regular donations from local people and organisations.
This year we are focused on reaching more people in groups that are at higher risk of suicide including young people, men, travellers, and those struggling with substance abuse.
We welcome opportunities to engage with organisations and individuals to help us reach more people in our local community through partnership and training opportunities, fundraising and sponsorship, inviting us to be part of an event, or donating to our branch.
