In 2024, we worked in partnership with Scotland’s Rural University College (SRUC) to deliver research into factors that protect the mental health and wellbeing of lone and isolated workers.
Research delivered in 2018 by Samaritans highlighted that isolation and access to services were challenges experienced by people living rurally. Through this research, we wanted to explore the factors that help to protect and promote mental wellbeing, in a preventative sense, before the point of crisis.
Our work with SRUC in 2024 as part of the West Highlands and Skye Project aimed to provide a foundation of support and encourage employers to recognise and value appropriate support for lone workers, and to make a commitment to employee wellbeing in rural and isolated areas.
