Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy. But suicide is preventable and the more we are equipped to recognise and safely intervene to help someone at risk, the more lives we can save.
Making a suicide intervention gives people the skills and confidence to intervene and engage with a person at risk of suicide, helping them to keep them as safe as possible until specialist help or emergency services arrive.

What past participants have to say:
“Before I took the course with Samaritans I wouldn’t have approached a person in suicidal crisis for fear of saying the wrong thing. The course has equipped me with the skills, ability and understanding of how to help and what to say in these difficult situations.”

“I was so happy that we saved a life that day and that’s thanks to the Samaritans course.”
I gained new skills for starting a conversation and reflected on my own approach in supporting someone struggling to cope
