On Sunday 11 October, our volunteers were joined by twenty members of the public on our inaugural 5K Dawn Walk in Walsall Arboretum.
Our walk started in darkness as we welcomed the deputy mayor, Mr Jim Parsons, to open the walk. As we set off, dawn was rising and we were treated to a beautiful, autumnalsunrise over the lake and grounds of the Arboretum.
There was a lot of chat amongst the walkers, and we were able to make new connections and enjoy being able to share such a wonderful experience.
As we were welcomed back to our starting point, we received a goodie bag and enjoyed a well-earned coffee from ReallyAwesome Coffee (Aldridge).
The walk, held at the start of Mental Health Awareness week, certainly raised awareness of issues surrounding mental health and highlighted the need for more volunteers to support callers in distress or crisis.
