Held early September, volunteers went along to the event to speak with festival-goers.
Samaritans volunteers attended the Parklife festival in Heaton Park with support and training from Festival Branch.
The Samaritans team provided an outreach service mainly by approaching people and talking to them about the work we do. The volunteers encouraged people to talk rather than waiting for someone to come to the stand. There were several conversations with people who had serious concerns.
It is an event that many young people go to, it was surprising how little people knew about Samaritans and it did pique interest once we explained that Samaritans are there to talk for any reason causing concern to an individual.
