Volunteer Extravaganza 2026
Volunteer Extravaganza 2026 was a great success, with a fantastic turnout, an exciting atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to engage with people from across Norfolk.
Our volunteers worked hard to create a welcoming and interactive stall, helping to raise awareness of Samaritans' services and the support we provide to anyone who may be struggling. Throughout the day, we spoke with many visitors and were delighted to meet several people interested in volunteering with us in the future.
Our activities proved especially popular. Visitors enjoyed testing their listening skills through our interactive listening game and getting creative with rock painting. We were also pleased to welcome representatives from other local charities, some of whom were so impressed by the activities that they asked if they could use similar ideas at their own events.
Taking on the Norfolk Business Games
Norwich Samaritans also fielded a team at this year's Norfolk Business Games, an event designed to bring together organisations from across the county for a day of teamwork, wellbeing and friendly competition.
Our team arrived bright and early, ready for the challenge ahead. While our listening skills may be second to none, we quickly discovered that success in activities involving arrows, beanbags, blindfolds, bats and balls requires a slightly different skill set!
The day was filled with laughter, encouragement and more than a few memorable moments as our volunteers tackled a wide range of challenges. Whether throwing, aiming, crawling, balancing or navigating soft play obstacles, everyone embraced the spirit of the event and gave it their all.
More importantly, the day highlighted what Norwich Samaritans is all about. Our volunteers supported one another, celebrated each other's successes and brought their kindness and camaraderie to every activity.
Building Connections
Both events showcased the many ways Norwich Samaritans engages with the local community beyond our listening service. Whether raising awareness, recruiting new volunteers, supporting wellbeing initiatives or simply representing the branch in the community, our volunteers continue to make a difference wherever they go.
Thank you to everyone who took part and represented Norwich Samaritans so brilliantly. We look forward to many more opportunities to connect, collaborate and make a positive impact across Norfolk.
