Thank you Clive, President of the British Institute of Funeral Directors, for raising £1,500 for Leek Samaritans
Each year, the National President of the British Institute of Funeral Directors (BIFD) selects a charity that resonates with the profession's values of compassion and care. This year, they chose to stand beside Leek Branch of Samaritans.
Clive, President of BIFD, says "In our line of work, we are often the ones called upon when a life is lost to suicide. We see the devastating impact on families, the unanswered questions, and the profound grief left behind. Because we witness the finality of these tragedies, we feel a deep, professional responsibility to help prevent them.
We know that a single conversation can be the difference between life and death. By supporting Samaritans, we are helping to ensure that when someone is in their darkest hour, there is always a voice at the end of the line to offer hope."
To raise money for this cause, a dedicated group from BIFD has taken on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, treking 24 miles and climbing over 5000 feet across Pen-Y-Gent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The weather was wet and windy but the group were successful and achieved their walking and fund-raising objective.
We, at Leek Samaritans, want to say a huge "THANK YOU" to Clive, his family and friends and to all at the BIFD, for thinking of us and raising funds to keep our phone lines open. You are absolute STARS, thank you so much.
