Do you feel able to be part of someone’s life when they are in crisis and offer a calm and caring voice? If your answer is yes, we want to hear from you.
We have a waiting list for interviews and training places. However, we are accepting new applications so please do apply online. We will get back to you as soon as possible to let you know the current status of our waiting list.

Samaritans volunteers are ordinary people. We come from all walks of life and all backgrounds and cultures, but we have one thing in common: we are all very good listeners.
Listening Volunteers
To ensure that we are able to continue to offer support to those in need we are looking for listening volunteers who can spare 4 hours each week. You don’t need any formal qualifications, just a natural ability to listen non-judgementally and offer emotional support. All volunteers receive special training in listening skills with eight 3 hours modules over several weeks and are then paired with a mentor for their initial shifts.
Support Volunteers
The branch is run entirely by volunteers so there are always lots of jobs to do. If you don't think that being a listening volunteer is right for you, there are lots of ways you can support us such as organising events, providing IT or administrative support, fundraising or marketing services.
Volunteer Information Sessions
If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering with us, you can attend one of our Information Sessions by clicking on this link to go to our eventbrite page to sign up. You will find a welcoming environment and will be able to explore whether Samaritans is the right place for you. As well as providing you with further information, you will have an opportunity to meet with some of our volunteers and ask them any questions. The dates for our upcoming sessions are listed below - we look forward to meeting you. Please note that these sessions will be held at 2 Wheatfield Way, Kingston upon Thames KT1 2QS. Please follow this link for details of how to find us.
