Great Yarmouth Samaritans were delighted to be invited to the Mayor’s Civic Reception, held at Merrivale Model Village in Great Yarmouth on Thursday 17th September.
Our volunteers Barbara and Jude joined representatives from a number of local charities, alongside Great Yarmouth councillors, for an enjoyable evening hosted by the Mayor of Great Yarmouth, Councillor Jade Martin.
The evening began at 7pm with a welcome from the Mayor, who paid tribute to the charity representatives attending and highlighted some of the local organisations and attractions that help make Great Yarmouth such a special community.
Guests were then given a tour of Merrivale Model Village, with a talk along the way, before enjoying refreshments provided by Dough Boys Pizza Great Yarmouth and Merrivale Tearooms. The evening also included a raffle.
It was a lovely relaxed event, the Mayor did a superb welcome speech, and we were very grateful to be invited.

Great Yarmouth Samaritans have previously been honoured as a Mayor of Great Yarmouth charity, and it was particularly nice to be invited to this year’s Civic Reception and to spend time with other organisations working to support the local community.
We would like to thank Councillor Jade Martin for the invitation and for bringing together so many of Great Yarmouth’s community organisations for such a welcoming evening.
