Welcome to Samaritans of Farnborough & District We’ve been supporting our local community since 1978, working towards a world where fewer people die by suicide.

We are a busy branch with just over 100 dedicated volunteers ready to take your calls. We offer a place to talk if you are feeling emotionally distressed or are having a difficult time and need to talk things through in a confidential and safe environment. No judgment and no advice, just a conversation about how you are feeling. We are here for anyone who needs someone, especially in a time of crisis. You don’t have to be suicidal to call Samaritans, you can get in touch about anything that’s troubling you, no matter how large or small the issue feels.

If you are having a difficult time and are unable to cope, or, if you are worried about someone else, please get in touch. We are here to support you.

Since the COVID-19 lockdown, our volunteers have worked tirelessly to be there to offer to support to our callers, in July alone we answered 729 calls and replied to 348 emails. To keep us all safe within our branch, we are practising strict Social Distancing measures, which means that we are unable to accept any Face to Face visitors for the foreseeable future. Once restrictions are lifted, we hope to resume these.

Unfortunately, due to measures put in place by the Government, we are also unable to get out and about to work within our local community, or to be there for you at Frimley Park Hospital. This is a big part of our work here at Farnborough Samaritans and we look forward to restrictions being lifted so we can once again get back out there to meet you.

Our branch and all the work we do is entirely funded by charitable donations. Volunteering with us at Farnborough & District branch is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. When we are not in this restricted time, we often hold social events, plus, we all get to volunteer alongside some truly amazing people! For now our recruitment is on hold, but please keep an eye on our website or follow us on Twitter for any updates.

Take care and keep safe, and remember, we are here if you need us.

Outreach at Farnborough & District Samaritans

With over 100 listening volunteers at Farnborough & District Samaritans, we also work hard to reach out to high risk groups to reduce the risk of suicide. We are dedicated to working within our local community to promote our services, such as:

  • Hospitals - our hospital team visits Frimley Park A&E on a Monday evening to support patients and staff.
  • Schools - visiting local schools and colleges to talk to pupils and staff about emotional health.
  • Military - our volunteers attend health fairs and events with the British Army.
  • The Homeless - we run drop-in sessions at local homeless shelters.
  • Local Companies - we visit local organisations and community groups.

If you would like us to attend any of your events or would like us to support you in any way, please see - Outreach at Farnborough & District Samaritans - for more information and contact details.
