Welcome to Farnborough & District Samaritans. We’ve been supporting our local community since 1978, working towards a world where fewer people die by suicide.

We are a busy branch with over 100 dedicated volunteers ready to take your calls. We offer a place to talk if you are feeling emotionally distressed or are having a difficult time and need to talk things through in a confidential and safe environment. No judgment and no advice, just a conversation about how you are feeling. We are here for anyone who needs someone, especially in a time of crisis.

If you are having a difficult time and are unable to cope, or, if you are worried about someone else, please get in touch. We are here to support you.

Last year our dedicated branch of volunteers answered over 12,000 calls. We also answered emails and texts and spoke face to face with people who visited the branch.

We enjoy spending time in our local community, offering support and promoting awareness of our services. We run a number of Outreach Programmes within our local community including spending time in A&E at Frimley Park Hospital, supporting schools and colleges and, being based near Aldershot, work with the Military, attending health fairs and events with the British Army.

Our branch of volunteers is entirely funded by charitable donations. We are a friendly branch and often hold social events. Volunteering with us is a truly fulfilling and rewarding experience. If you would like to find out more about volunteering with us at Farnborough & District branch, please come along to one of our information sessions! Other than being a listening volunteer, we have plenty of volunteering opportunities at Farnborough & District Branch including joining our fundraising team, so if you have any fundraising ideas, we would love to hear from you.

History of Farnborough & District Samaritans

Our branch of Samaritans opened in 1978 in the old police station in Alexandra Road, North Camp. We have moved a few times throughout the years, but have always been available to those who need us - we have been in Farnborough Road since 1997.

With over 100 listening volunteers at Farnborough & District Samaritans, we also work hard to reach out to high risk groups to reduce the risk of suicide. We are dedicated to working within our local community to promote our services, such as:

  • Hospitals - our hospital team visits Frimley Park A&E on a Monday evening to support patients and staff.
  • Schools - visiting local schools and colleges to talk to pupils and staff about emotional health.
  • Military - our volunteers attend health fairs and events with the British Army.
  • The Homeless - we run drop-in sessions at local homeless shelters.
  • Pub Initiative - we work with local pubs, supporting staff and customers with emotional support.
  • Local Companies - we visit local organisations and community groups.

If you would like us to attend any of your events or would like us to support you in any way, please see - Outreach at Farnborough & District Samaritans - for more information and contact details.
