Eastbourne & District Samaritans were at The Beacon on Friday 24 July for Samaritans Awareness Day
Our volunteers spent the day in Primark Square, raising awareness of Samaritans’ 24/7 support and collecting donations for the local branch.
It was a steady and positive day, with some lovely conversations, enquiries about volunteering, and great engagement with the tombola. Thanks to the generosity of shoppers and supporters, we raised just over £200 through donations and tombola.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day happen, including our volunteers who supported the stall, tombola, public conversations, set-up and pack-down.
We are also grateful to The Beacon Shopping Centre for giving us the opportunity to be visible in the community and raise awareness of the support Samaritans offers, day and night.
Samaritans are here to listen, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can call free any time on 116 123.
Connecting people in crisis with trained volunteers who will always listen. People calling for change with those who need to listen. People who’ve been there before with those struggling now.
Samaritans Awareness Day is on 24 July because we’re here to listen 24/7.
Help us raise awareness and funds to prevent suicide today. Because tomorrow could be too late.
Today and every day...
Every 10 seconds, we answer a call for help.
We’re here for people when it matters most. Every hour. Of every day. For everyone who needs us. And every life we can help to save.
