John McCutchan MBE started the Bluebell Walk in 1972, but the idea came from his late wife Carolyn. The concept of it being run by charities continues to this day, with over 75 having participated over the years. In 2013 John, Carolyn, their daughter Philippa and husband Michael Vine formed the Bluebell Walk Partnership, then in 2020 the Bluebell Walk Advisory Group (BWAG) took over and has 9 members to ensure that the Bluebell Walk progresses and develops into the future, with the invaluable assistance of local charities.
Since 1972 the Arlington Bluebell Walk and Farm Trail based at Bates Green Farm has developed into seven interesting walks over three working farms.
A circular walk of 1100 metres or 2/3 a mile in Beatons Wood has been made suitable for wheelchair users. This is where you see white anemones followed by the vistas of bluebells, established over centuries. On this walk there are seats for you to enjoy the peace and tranquility of this oak and hornbeam ancient wood. Along the walks there are signs illustrating the flora and fauna of the countryside for your information.
Eastbourne Choral Society Concert Saturday 23rd March 2024 at 7pm
Eastbourne Choral Society chose us as their charity of the year.
The concert left the audience spellbound which is a testament to the enduring power of music to touch the soul.
We collected an amazing sum of £332.46 at the Messiah Concert.
Thank you so much for the donations and special thanks to the Eastbourne Samaritans Volunteers and the Branch Director, that helped out on the day.
