Yesterday we held our AGM in the branch, looking back on our achievements during 2025-26, as well as looking forward.
During 2025-26, our amazing volunteers together gave 6,238 hours of their time to support over 20,000 callers. The Chair and vice-chair of the Friends of Cheltenham Samaritans attended the AGM, and delivered a fundraising cheque which will help to enable us to continue to provide this level of service.
We were also joined at the AGM by Professor Jane Monckton-Smith, Professor of Public Protection at the University of Gloucestershire. She talked to our volunteers about coercive-control associated suicide, providing some important insights into the situations and emotions that some of our callers might be facing. We are grateful to Professor Monckton-Smith for giving her time on a Saturday to share this valuable information with our volunteers.
