Welcome to Basingstoke Samaritans
Thank you for visiting our page. We’re Basingstoke Samaritans — a local branch based in the south of England run entirely by volunteers committed to being here for anyone who needs someone to listen. We serve Basingstoke and the surrounding areas, as well as providing listening services to the national line, offering a safe space for people to talk, day or night.
Our branch has been part of the community for over 50 years - having been registered since 18 July 1972 - and we’re proud to be here for anyone who may be going through a difficult time. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, lonely, worried, or just need a safe space to talk things through, you can call us for free on 116 123, any time.
What we do
- We listen, 24/7
You can talk to us in confidence about whatever’s troubling you. We won’t judge, and we won’t tell you what to do — we’ll listen and help you find your own way through.
- We support our community
Alongside answering calls we take part in local events, run outreach activities, and work with community partners to make sure people know support is always available.
Please note that the Basingstoke branch offers a listening service only, and we are not able to offer face to face support.
Supporting Basingstoke Samaritans
We rely on donations to provide vital listening support to those who need us most. If you’d like to help us continue this work, you can visit our donation page.
Volunteering for Basingstoke Samaritans
Our branch is completely volunteer-run and we’re always grateful for people who want to get involved.
We welcome:
- Listening volunteers, who respond to calls from people who need emotional support
- Support volunteers, who help with events, fundraising, admin, maintenance, IT, and more
If you're interested in volunteering, you can find more information on our volunteering page, or get in touch with us directly at [email protected]
