I'm doing my own walk
Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help. Your next walking challenge could help us be there for someone struggling to cope.
Whether you've already secured your entry in an organised trek or hike, or you are planning your own walking challenge, let us know and help fund our vital listening service.
Find a trek
If you want to find a hike or trek to take part in, check out local event listings and book, or take a look at these Ultras or Adventure Challenges and sign up. Be sure to secure your place first with the event organiser, then let us know your walking plans so we can help you kick start your fundraising.
Create your own walking challenge
You don't have to sign up to an official trek to get active and raise some money. Why not create a walking challenge which you can do in your own time. Then, let us know all about it and we'll be in touch with useful tips and guidance.
Here are some ideas:
- Walk 10,000 steps a day for a month
- Walk 5k every week/month for a year
- Walk the distance from Land's End to John O'Groats
- Gather your friends for a walk in the local park
Why Samaritans need your support
We know that life can sometimes be incredibly tough. Thanks to the dedication of more than 20,000 volunteers, Samaritans can be there for anyone, whatever they are going through and whenever they are struggling to cope. We’re also at the heart of local communities, working with schools, workplaces, railways, prisons and hospitals to offer training and support, preventing suicide and helping people turn their lives around.
Our life-saving work wouldn’t be possible without the extraordinary generosity of our event participants.
