Samaritans is proud to partner with the World Gold Council, whose support over the next three years will help us transform our emotional support services and ensure we're there for more people.
The World Gold Council is an industry association for the global gold industry and their 'Heart of Gold' community programme supports charities and community organisations across the world. The World Gold Council has supported Samaritans since 2021 and over the course of several years has made donations totalling £132,000.
In response to the need to evolve Samaritans’ services and explore new ways of flexible volunteering, the World Gold Council has pledged a further £1.35m over the next three years.
This funding will support two transformational programmes designed to adapt our services, so we can support more callers in future. This includes the development and expansion of our online chat service and our Home Listening Pilot.
The World Gold Council’s support will help us make our 24/7 support more accessible while exploring new and flexible volunteering opportunities for our 20,000 listening volunteers.
We are incredibly grateful for our ongoing partnership with the World Gold Council and their generous donations - which across unrestricted and restricted grants are expected to total £1.5 million.
Together, we’re working to ensure Samaritans can continue to be there for every hour, every day and for every life - now and into the future.
