Make a difference by taking on Dawn Walk with #TeamSamaritans this October.

This year, Dawn Walk will be in celebration of World Mental Health Day, in solidarity with those struggling to cope.

Participants are challenged to move 5k at sunrise, wherever they choose. This could be somewhere special to you, or your everyday route – it’s up to you! Raise vital funds and awareness of Samaritans so that we can makes suicide prevention a priority and reach people before it’s too late. You can take on the challenge on your own, with friends, family, or colleagues.

Whether you’ve used our service before, are fundraising in memory of someone special, or want to help others, we’d love for you to join us in our life-saving mission.

Why take part?

  • It’s well-known that movement outside can help reduce anxiety and boost your wellbeing.
  • It’s a positive start to the day – a chance to embrace the early morning query and reflect, or to have great conversations with people you’re walking with.
  • It’s a great way to mark World Mental Health Day on Friday 10th October!

Here’s how you can get involved:

Host your own Dawn Walk

  1. Plan your Dawn Walk at sunrise on any day between Friday 10th October and Sunday 12th October.
  2. Visit the Dawn Walk site to access resources, our FAQs, and start your Dawn Walk team (don’t forget to register as taking part with your company and use your work email address).
  3. Share the date alongside and ask staff to sign up through our dedicated Dawn Walk site.

The suggested distance is 5k, but you could tailor this walk to be more accessible, or more challenging to suit your team.

During October, the sun rises just after 7am in the UK, so you might want to plan your challenge to get the best view of the sunrise at this time!

Virtual Dawn Walk

If your colleagues can’t attend a team walk or would prefer to take part individually – they can still join in, and take on Dawn Walk solo, or with family and friends. We also have an exclusive Dawn Walk Facebook group, where participants can connect with other likeminded people.
