Everyone facing emotional crisis deserves to be listened to.
Someone contacts Samaritans for help every 6 seconds.
They could be a friend, neighbour or relative of yours. In fact, 4.7 million people contacted us last year. Reasons for calling vary from mental health to relationships and debt but they all have one thing in common – they need urgent support.
Anyone can turn to us, any time. We’re here 24/7, 365 days a year, for whatever life throws at people. Our 20,000 volunteers give up their time in 201 local branches in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
But it’s not enough
Our listening volunteers handle almost a fifth more calls than 20 years ago. And what keeps us awake at night is that we want to be there for everyone, 24/7, but the demand is challenging us.
Recruiting volunteers is a challenge for us. People have less free time than ever before. From demanding jobs to looking after dependants, people have so much more on their plates. Our training model isn’t flexible enough for them.
As our Charity of the Year partner, you could have the solution
Your support could help us answer more calls for help, and be there for the 5 million people who contact us every year who are struggling to cope.
Since you started reading this, 20 people have contacted us because they have nowhere else to turn. Credit Suisse will ensure we can continue to be there for them.
