Samaritans are proud to be working in partnership with The Premier League on “Together Against Suicide”, an initiative to support fans affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts.
The initiative also aims to help more people recognise when someone may be struggling, giving them the tools and confidence to start a conversation that could make a difference.
We know that having a safe space to talk can be life-changing. Through Together Against Suicide, football clubs are creating opportunities for supporters to have conversations without fear of judgement and to learn where they can find support.

The expansion of Together Against Suicide to all 20 Premier League clubs is an important step forward. By creating safe, welcoming spaces on matchdays, clubs can encourage conversations and help supporters affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts access the support and expert advice they need.

25/26 Season
World Suicide Prevention Day 2025
On World Suicide Prevention Day 2025, the Premier League teamed up with Samaritans to launch the Together Against Suicide initiative.
During the 25/26 season, fans at selected games had access to safe, non-judgemental spaces to talk to trained matchday stewards. Over 3,200 people were trained by Samaritans to have safe and supportive conversations. On matchdays, there were 2,229 mental health support interactions and 15 crisis interventions.
As well as training club staff, The Premier League promoted practical tools and signposting to support on social media and the online hub on their website. The hub has resources and guides for fans to find support when they need it most.
"Sadly, suicide is an issue that affects people of all ages from all backgrounds. We believe football can play a vital role in reducing the stigma around it and connecting fans who are experiencing suicidal thoughts with the support they need."
Richard Masters, Chief Executive of the Premier League
Together, we’re using the power of football to help people open up and find support when they need it most.
