Volunteer with us

  • English
  • Cymraeg

Just as our callers come from all walks of life, so do our volunteers.

Samaritans volunteers are everyday people from different communities and backgrounds. Each volunteer brings with them their own experience, insight and unique contribution to our branches, and every contribution is valued. Whatever your age, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, gender, education, employment status, or wherever you are in life, you could be a Samaritans volunteer!

I've met people I wouldn't normally meet, and I've developed great friendships

Simon, Listening volunteer

What do our volunteers do?

The majority of our volunteers support callers on the phones, email and webchat, but there are many other ways they support our work.

Our volunteers play a vital part in keeping our branches running, from helping with cleaning, building maintenance and admin, to sitting on the leadership teams.

If you speak Welsh you could also volunteer on our Welsh Language line, supporting Welsh callers in their first language.

However you choose to volunteer, your support is vital to helping us achieve our vision
