National treasure Dame Barbara Windsor brought Edward Monkton’s quirky cartoons to life with her trademark naughty giggle in support of Samaritans Brew Monday 2018.
Brew Monday was originally Blue Monday, one of the most difficult days of the year. Instead, Samaritans encouraged people to link up with friends, family or work colleagues over a cup of tea, to raise awareness and funds for the charity.
Edward Monkton created four animations and used poetry to illustrate the benefits of tea and how it can help to have a brew and get together with friends, all seen from his characteristic surreal viewpoint.
Dame Barbara Windsor said: “I loved working on this project with Samaritans – everyone knows I like to natter and I’m a proud tea drinker too, as a Brit of course.

“I had fun recording the voiceover for Samaritans, I even brought out my Carry On giggle, which I haven't done for years! Having a cuppa and chat could go a long way to help someone struggling, so get the kettle on and make someone’s day!”
Samaritans relies on the public’s kind donations to help keep its service going.
