Strategic partnerships

Whether suicide is a major operational issue for your company, you want to improve staff’s resilience, or you want to create a more supportive workplace, we can help.

We have worked with major transport networks, the emergency services and companies which manage multi-story car parks, shopping centres and hotels to create suicide prevention strategies that save lives.  We also work with many corporate organisations to promote mental wellbeing among staff, building healthier and more productive workforces.

Every day, around 16 people decide to end their own life in the UK and every six seconds somebody contacts Samaritans for help. Together we can make sure no one has to cope alone.

Suicide or attempts at suicide

We are renowned for our live-saving partnerships with companies affected by suicide. Among the services we offer are:

  • Staff training: spotting the signs, making an intervention;
  • Research: how, where and when suicide takes place;
  • Consultancy:  engineering, barriers;
  • Media influence: how suicide is reported;
  • Management support
  • Action plans to prevent imitational suicides after an incident.

Your vulnerable customers

Banks, credit card issuers, credit service companies, insurance companies, utilities, phone companies and online retailers are all turning to Samaritans for help.

When a customer is vulnerable, staff need special training to handle the call. The customer may have a mental health condition, or they may be grieving. Whatever the reason, our partners have been fully trained to deal with vulnerable customers appropriately, and they know that they can use a special referral system to ensure that the customer gets the help needed from Samaritans.

Your employees’ emotional resilience

Research shows that a happy, balanced workforce is more productive and more likely to achieve than one which is stressed, anxious or burdened with worries.

However, three out of five people have experienced mental health issues due to work and in 2016/2017 work-related stress, depression or anxiety accounted for 49% of working days lost.

We’ve supported major FTSE-100 companies in their emotional health training for staff, as well as many smaller companies in both the private and public sectors.

Cause-related marketing

Samaritans is one of the UK’s most well-known, valued and trusted charities. Aligning your company with Samaritans can build your brand’s profile, credibility and customer loyalty.

It can also boost sales. Research has shown that consumers are more likely to buy a product that is associated with a cause or issue.
