OUR NEW HOME
As you may have heard, Samaritans Yeovil Sherborne & District have moved into a new home, Morley House, in Yeovil Town Centre and hope to be fully up and running at Morley House on December 9th.
Please be aware that we are unable to receive any face to face calls between the dates November 25th to January 6th though our operations centre will be accepting calls as usual. This is so our volunteers can have a period of settling into our new home. Visitors will then be welcome Monday to Saturday 10 am to 1400
Our monthly OPEN EVENINGS will take place in 2020 at our new premises, Morley House
Our open evenings are friendly and welcoming forums, hosted by existing volunteers who are on hand to chat to you, tell you a little bit about what’s required to be a volunteer as well as answer any of your questions. And of course, there’s always plenty of tea on tap to keep the conversation flowing!
Our open evenings are held on the first Wednesday of every month 7pm. There’s no need to book and anyone who is thinking about volunteering is welcome to attend.
However, please note that due to our move, there will be no Open Evening in December 2019. Because the first Wednesday of January is on New Year’s Day Bank Holiday, we have decided to move this one to January 8th.
These are now the confirmed dates for our 2020 Open Evenings:
Wednesday January 8th
Wednesday February 5th
Wednesday March 4th
Wednesday April 1st
Wednesday May 6th
Wednesday June 3rd
Wednesday July 1st
Wednesday August 5th
Wednesday September 2nd
Wednesday October 7th
Listening volunteers spend three hours a week in our centre supporting all kinds of people who need a confidential, non-judgemental ear to listen at a tough time in their life. We talk to people on the phone, face-to-face at our premises, by email and by text.
We also have a vital team of Support volunteers who give their time to help with fundraising, publicity, IT, and committee work.
We are currently seeking a Company Secretary, and an IT support volunteer . If you would like to know more please contact [email protected]
Other work and activities
We work in partnership with other organisations such as Cruse and Yeovil District Hospital. We have an active schools programme, and we attend lots of local events in support of positive mental health
