On 8th June 2024, Worthing Samaritans will be hosting the 45th Samaritans National Walk.
Join us for our annual National Walk - we welcome people from all over the UK to participate.
The walk will be open to volunteers, family, friends and the local community. You will be asked to pay a fee for the walk but will not be expected to obtain sponsorship unless you choose to do so. If you choose to raise funds for a charity, then this can be for Samaritans or a charity of your choice (please note that it will be your responsibility to contact your chosen charity to do this). We can assist you with raising money for Samaritans and can help set up a fundraising page for you. Please let us know if you need support with this.
The area
Arundel itself is an historic town with both a medieval castle and a Roman Catholic cathedral that are popular with tourists.
There is easy access to Arundel by either train or car with plenty of parking throughout the town (including free parking and paid car parks). Further information will be available to download nearer the time.
Accommodation
There are lots of hotels in Arundel and surrounding areas if you require accommodation and if you need assistance with this, then please let us know.
Choice of walks
The walks will begin and finish at Arundel Football club with two lengths of walk to choose from – 13 or 25 miles (lengths may vary slightly whilst we finalise the routes).
Both routes will head along the river Arun before joining the South Downs way and then circle back to Arundel on the opposite side of the river with beautiful views of Arundel Castle and the town itself.
We will supply food at checkpoints and would ask that you bring a water bottle that we will be happy to refill for you throughout the walk.
All walkers will receive a medal and a certificate.

Dogs will be welcome on the walk, but we ask that you keep them on a lead throughout as the walk will pass through farmland and could cause distress to local farm animals.
We also ask that you follow the countryside code at all times.
The day continues....
If you would like to join us on the evening of the 8th June for food, fun and entertainment at Arundel Football Club there will be a further charge of £15.00. The evening will provide an opportunity to talk to fellow volunteers, family and friends about the day and hopefully make friends and help us to support Samaritans. Numbers will be limited due to the size of the venue so please book early.
