Asking someone who you think might need help a simple question like “where can I get a coffee?” could be all it takes to interrupt their suicidal thoughts.
Suicidal thoughts are often temporary, and a little small talk or a simple question can be enough to interrupt them, potentially helping someone on road to recovery. As part of our Small Talk Saves Lives campaign, we're encouraging people to keep an eye out for others who may need help, and to start a conversation with them if you feel comfortable doing so.
If you'd like to learn more, members of our branch will be at Woking station on Thursday 23rd February around midday, or you can find more information at http://www.samaritans.org/smalltalksaveslives.
