Recruitment
We are currently recruiting for Listening Volunteers at our Tunbridge Wells branch.
We recruit both Listening Volunteers and Support Volunteers. Listening Volunteers answer the phones or reply to emails or web chats from our callers. Support Volunteers help keep the branch running with tasks such as administration, fundraising and maintenance of our property.
We invite anyone who is interested to attend an Information Event to find out more about who we are and what we do.
What happens next?
Once you have attended an Information Event we may ask you back for an interview and with this process complete we then move onto training.
Training for Listening Volunteers takes place over seven weekday evenings spread over seven weeks. It also requires additional online modules to be completed that typically take one to two hours per week. You can complete these additional online modules at times convenient to you. The training equips all Listening Volunteers to support our callers whether over the phone, email, web chat, or in person at our branch.
The Samaritans training programme is the same throughout the UK and ROI. This not only allows Volunteers to move between branches but, most importantly, ensures that all callers receive the same level of support.
