How we can help
Available to give talks on emotional health and self-harm. We have a dedicated team who provide these excellent interactive sessions.
South Wales Valleys Branch
Please note that unfortunately, we are not in a position to receive face-to-face callers at the branch.
South Wales Valleys Samaritans have been providing emotional support in the area since 2015. We have gone into town centres with Feet on the Street, attended Job Centres, Foodbanks, Custody Suites and Hospitals.
We have provided talks for a wide range of local organisations and workplaces on subjects such as Compassion and Self Harm. We have also done a lot of educational work with local schools, as we believe that it is so important for young people to recognise how they are feeling and have participated in many Crucial Crew Sessions were we talk to primary school pupils, along with other organisations. We are definitely now one of the 'got to' charities in the South Wales Valleys.
While there has been a temporary stop to our work in the community due to the pandemic, we have progressed in other ways, notably by starting phone shifts in August 2020, which means that we are there to provide support for the hundreds of people who call Samaritans every day.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help in any way that they feel able to, whether it is doing outreach work, education work or on the phones - or all of them! If you would like to join us and help us expand the help that we can offer further, please get in touch. See the 'Volunteer at this branch' tab below.
If you would like to support us financially, we would appreciate your help. This branch totally relies on the funds it can raise, so every penny will assist us to provide our service in the South Wales Valleys. Please see our donation link below.
