Garden in memory of Samaritans founder Chad Varah to open in his home town of Barton. The Chad Varah Memorial Garden has been created in Baysgath Park in Barton-Upon-Humber as a permanent memorial to the Samaritans founder. Click here to read our full article

Charity Football match in memory of Scunthorpe nurse raises more than £1500 - We were so happy when two! (Yes two!!!) different groups contacted us to raise money through a charity football match. Walkers step out to raise awareness of suicide - Scunthorpe Telegraph reported on the very successful walk that took place on the 11th September to raise awareness of Suicide. The event was in partnership with RDasH, NHS Foundation Trust, North Lincolnshire Council and ourselves. Around 50 walkers took part in the 5km course. Click here to read the full article

Estuary TV - Our Deputy Director for Fundraising and Publicity Karen appeared on Estuary TV on the 2nd August promoting the branch and volunteering. To watch the interview click on the link here. Rose Garden - A refurbished Rose Garden and new Plaque was unveiled on the 22nd July 2016 near Civic Centre in Scunthorpe. The rose garden is just one of the initiatives to help raise the awareness of the Samaritans. North Lincolnshire council released a press release that can be seen here, and Scunthorpe Telegraph reported on the unveiling here. Scunthorpe Telegraph reported the news in the hard copy of the paper issued on the 4th August 2016.
Humber Bridge Walk - Also in the month of July volunteers from Scunthorpe, Hull, Grimsby and more joined together to meet on the Humber Bridge. The walk on the 24th July was to symbolise how branches are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and how they support each other to do so. The Scunthorpe telegraph reported on this event here. It was reported in the hard copy of the Scunthorpe Telegraph issued on the 4th August 2016.
