About Macclesfield & District Samaritans
Our branch has been providing support to people in our local area and beyond for many years.
We offer emotional support in person, by telephone, by email and by text and on average each year we help over 19,000 people going through a tough time.
Our Work in the Branch
A really important part of Samaritans work is to reach out to people in the community and work with other organisations to raise awareness of what we do and offer support to as many people as we can.
We have an outreach team who work with, for example, local schools. We love giving talks to anyone who invites us, so we can spread the word.
Volunteering in our Branch
Everyone in the Branch is a volunteer, from Phil our Director to our part time fundraisers. We have 120 volunteers. Although Samaritans is best known for its listening volunteers who answer the telephones, there are so many other ways in which you can help us. We have roles in administration, fundraising, IT support and building maintenance for example.
