Welcome to Samaritans of Inverness
Samaritan’s Inverness branch was founded in 1973 and is located in the heart of Inverness, a short walk from the bus and railway stations. We take calls from all over the UK, but and our volunteers come from across the largest geographical area of any branch in the UK, from Tain to Aviemore and Lochcarron to Nairn. Our branch is completely self-funded, we rely on our 35 volunteers to stay open and support those struggling to cope.
- Our volunteers took 6,220 phone calls,
- We were on the phone for 1,558 hours,
- Our new volunteers undertook over 40 hours of training,
- We reached our community through 50 hours of outreach.
What are Samaritans of Inverness up to?
Our Outreach Team visit diverse local events and venues: Highland Games, agricultural shows, charity events, shopping centres and music festivals.
We support three other local charities offering monthly support in person: Cafe 1668, Inverness Foodstuffs and the Salvation Army's Chat. We join the UHI Well-Being events.
We can provide community & workplace-based training on mental well-being and how to offer support. If you would like us to come and talk with your group or organisation please email us at [email protected]

Donate to Samaritans of Inverness
Our branch is completely self funded and It costs almost £30,000 every year to run our branch. We rely on Grant Aid and donations as well as a range of fundraising activitiesit’s easy to donate to the Samaritans of Inverness online too. Any amount will help us to answer more calls for support.
