About Buxton & High Peak Samaritans

Our branch has been providing support to people in our local area and beyond for a number of years.

We offer emotional support in person on a Monday between the hours of 11 - 2pm, by telephone, by email and by text and on average each year we help over 8,000 people going through a rough time.

Our work in Buxton and High Peak District

A really important part of Samaritans work is to reach out to people in the community and work with other organisations to raise awareness of what we do and offer support to as many people as we can.

We have an outreach team who work with, for example local schools, Network Rail.  We love giving talks to anyone who invites us, so we can spread the word.

Volunteering in our Branch

Everyone in our branch is a volunteer from George our Director to our part time volunteers.  We have around 65 volunteers.  Although Samaritans is best known for its listening volunteers who answer the telephones, there are so many other ways in which you can help us.  We have roles in administration, fundraising, IT support and building maintenance for example.  Give us a call on 01298-213322 or email buxtonsamsvolunteering@gmail.com to find out more or alternatively click on volunteer at this branch button.  Our next information event is 1pm on Saturday 7th January 2017 at the branch - 22 Hardwick Street, Buxton, ahead of training beginning mid-January.

Raising funds for our Branch can be fun!

There are so many ways you can raise money for us!

Each year our branch receives over 8,000 calls for support.  We need your support to help us to make sure we are there for anyone who needs us.  There are many ways in which you can help us; no contribution is too small to make a big difference.  Did you know to raise funds our branch runs a 200 club where you pay a montly standing order and are entered into a lottery - a win/win situation you help us to raise funds and you may also win our lottery!!!!  Please get in touch via buxtonsams200@hotmail.com if you are interested in joining.

Would you like one of our Speakers team to come and talk to you about the work we do?

If you are a teacher at school, a member of a club or society we would be delighted to come and talk to you about the works Samaritans do.
