This volunteer role is an important opportunity to support the financial leadership of our branch and help ensure our service can continue supporting people who need us
This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed (e.g. travel to meetings etc).
If you know someone with strong financial skills and a passion for supporting our mission, please share this opportunity with them.
This is a vital volunteer role within our Branch Leadership Team.
Our Treasurer plays a vital role in making sure that Salisbury Samaritans achieves its core purpose - our vision is that fewer people die by suicide.
They oversee the branch financial management, working closely with our branch leadership and volunteers to achieve our mission.
Key responsibilities include:
As a Trustee
Be actively involved beyond Board meetings, including:
Manage day-to-day financial activities, such as:
Time commitment
Volunteer training
Supportive volunteer environment
We are looking for someone willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. We will provide a full induction.
Our Treasurer does not need to be a listening volunteer, but an empathy to that role would be helpful.
We are trained to provide emotional support to our callers, but we are not trained in finances. We have been very fortunate to have our current Treasurer (and their predecessors) in post, but after a successful term they are stepping down. In order for our volunteers to provide the best possible 24-hour service, we need to ensure that they are working in a safe and comfortable environment and feel fully supported. The Branch Leadership Team is responsible for this and the Treasurer, in looking after our finances, is a vital part of that team.
Watch how our volunteers make a real difference! Even though this video features Listening Volunteers, it shows the community and purpose you would support as Treasurer.
