How we can help
We train and support the Listeners at Buckley Hall Prison in Rochdale.
You can visit us in branch if you prefer to speak to a volunteer face-to-face
You can reach us by phone, email or text.
The Rochdale, Oldham and District branch of Samaritans began in March 1967 and has been supporting people throughout the area and beyond ever since.
As well as being available by phone, email or text, we also have a face-to-face room where you are most welcome to come in and talk to us about how you're feeling and what might be troubling you.
We're all volunteers here and we really want to do our best to be there for people who are struggling emotionally and need a listening ear.
Last year we spent 10, 828 hours answering 7,325 calls, 763 emails and 2,740 SMSs in our branch! We always need volunteers, both listening and support, so if you are thinking about volunteering with us, please follow the link below and you'll find lots of information and guidance as to what to do next.
We, as volunteers, have to rely on our own fundraising activities as well as donations to keep our branch open and running. Why not think about us when you're doing your next fundraising event? Or maybe you'd prefer to make a one-off or a monthly donation? We would really appreciate it and you would be helping to support our callers who need to talk to us. Please follow the link below.
