45 Years of Voluntary Service with Samaritans
We’re proud to announce that our very own Maggie Mehta has been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List with the award of a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her extraordinary 45 years of voluntary service with Samaritans, both locally and nationally.
Maggie received her award at Windsor Castle in November from HRH Princess Anne, who warmly acknowledged the vital role Samaritans play in supporting people in distress.
Throughout her decades of service, Maggie has been a cornerstone of the Samaritans community, dedicating her time, compassion, and expertise to helping those in need. Her commitment has not only impacted countless individuals but has also strengthened the organisation’s mission to provide emotional support to anyone struggling to cope.
This honour shines a spotlight on the invaluable contribution of volunteers across the UK, and Maggie’s inspiring legacy serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion, listening, and community support.
