Reading Samaritans is currently looking for a person to provide IT support for the branch
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
To be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of branch computer systems and provide IT support for the branch.

POSITION AND SUPPORT IN ORGANISATION
Accountable to: Branch Director
Liaises with: Branch Director and Deputies, Other Branch IT Support and General Office staff
Works within a team of: Other Branch IT Support
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
- Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving or referring on any hardware/software faults as appropriate
- Providing support to all volunteers where needed, including procedural documentation
- Supporting the roll-out of new hardware or software
- Setting up new user accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues
- Liaising with General Office about any continuing IT problems if these would result in prolonged loss of service
QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE
- Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality about sensitive information encountered within Samaritans
- Practical experience of a variety of IT tools
- Approachable and organised
- Able to communicate IT support needs to the Deputy Director for Operations and if required the Branch Director and the Chair of Branch Committee as appropriate
- Ability to motivate and encourage, particularly those who are not confident with new technologies
- Understanding of Samaritans Vision, Mission and Values
