Brew Monday Campaign
Brew Monday is a great day to meet the people of Peterborough. I had so many people come up to me just to say "Thank You". What a day!
Neil, listening volunteer
Our volunteers together with Rail Enforcement Officers from Thameslink, the Jordan Legacy, Andy’s Man Club travel to London on the 09.23 train from Peterborough. Teabags, awareness cards and pens were handed out to passengers.
This is an opportunity for us to talk to passengers about the work of Samaritans and to listen to anyone in need. Our volunteers have delivered information packs starting early in December 2025, with more than 30 local organisation being covered.
Brew Monday Campaign at Peterborough Station
Raising Awareness Peterborough City Centre
Fancy a cuppa? Or two? Or three?
We love to take part in organisation-wide campaigns like Brew Monday and The Big Listen. It's a great chance for us to get down to our local station or Cathedral Square and chat to lovely Peterborough people about our service - and paint the town green!
Raising awareness in Peterborough City Centre
Supporting Events
Peterborough has such a diverse community. We have supported some fantastic people doing their bit to raise awareness through football matches, the greyhounds and theatres.
We can provide a Samaritans presence at these events, offering emotional support where needed.
We're also happy to provide a presence for support groups during events like Suicide Awareness Day.
Talks and Training
Schools
We deliver talks to young people about recognising emotional needs in themselves, and help them develop the confidence to talk to people they trust.
We also attend school wellbeing fairs which can be a great chance to talk to young people and parents about expressing feelings.
Universites and Colleges
We give wellbeing talks to students at Peterborough Regional College and University Centre Peterborough.
Local Businesses
We deliver talks to staff about our work, looking after their own wellbeing in the workplace, and listening to their colleagues.
Community Groups
Neighbourhood groups, parkruns, libraries, the armed forces, and many more - we deliver talks to a number of community organisations and charities in Peterborough.
