Samaritans of Newcastle are proud to offer emotional support to people in our community and beyond.

At this challenging time, we are continuing to offer support to those in need. Please do reach out, we are here to listen.

Our team of dedicated volunteers provide confidential and non-judgemental support to those in need of emotional support, and those experiencing feelings of distress or despair.

Our volunteers keep our branch phones answered, emails replied to and visitors seen, as well as fundraising to keep the branch running and assist in our shop to bring in vital funds.


Newcastle Samaritans is an important part of the local community and we need your help to remain able to provide support to those in need.

This pandemic is having a serious impact on so many people.  Samaritans is a 24/7 service offering emotional support via freecall-116-123 and email: [email protected] The Newcastle (Tyneside) branch has a crowdfunding project underway that looks to cover the running costs into 2021.  ‘Samaritans Working in the Geordie Community.’ Please support us if you can at the following link:

You can now also help us fundraise through our Co-Operate Community Fund donation page. We are aiming to raise £500, but with your help, we would love to raise as much as we can to help continue the branch's great work supporting those in need of our services.


Are You Interested In Volunteering In Newcastle?

We are always looking for volunteers to join our branch whether as a listening volunteer or as a support volunteer.

Volunteering for Samaritans gives you a real chance to make a difference to people's lives, and we provide full training. You can find out more information on volunteering below.

Sadly, we are currently unable to offer training for new Samaritans, because of the Coronavirus situation. However, you are welcome to express interest, and we’ll get straight back to you as soon as the situation changes.

Our Service During Lockdown

Unfortunately, we are unable to see face to face callers at our Branch right now, but our volunteers are still going in every day to answer the telephone and reply to e-mails.
