About Mid Cheshire (Northwich) Samaritans

Our branch has been providing support to people in our local area since 1965.

We offer emotional support in person, by telephone, by email and by text and on average each year we help over 22,000 people going through a tough time.  Our branch covers the following areas:

  • Altrincham
  • Hale
  • Hale Barns
  • Knutsford
  • Lymm
  • Northwich
  • Timperley
  • Winsford

Our Work in Mid Cheshire

A really important part of Samaritans work is to reach out to people in the community and work with other organisations to raise awareness of what we do and offer support to as many people as we can.  Did you know every 90 minutes someone dies by suicide and every 6 seconds someone call us!

We have an outreach team who work with, for example, local schools.  We love giving talks to anyone who invites us, so we can spread the word.

Volunteering in our Branch

Everyone in the Branch is a volunteer, from Carrie our Director to our part time fundraisers.  We have around 58 volunteers.  Although Samaritans is best known for its listening volunteers who answer the telephones, there are so many other ways in which you can help us.  We have roles in administration, fundraising, IT support and building maintenance for example.  If you want to find out more why not give us a call on 07864 540302 or alternatively email us on midcheshiresamaritans@hotmail.co.uk.

Our next Information/Selection evening is Thursday 30 November 2017 at 18.50 at the Manchester Road centre.

Raising Funds for our branch can be fun!

There are so many ways you can raise money for us!  Our branch is autonomous and responsible for its own fundraising and management of its volunteers.  The central charity just helps us out with policy.

Each year our branch receives over 22,000 calls for support.  We need your support to help us to make sure we can be there for anyone who needs us.

There are many ways in which you can help us; no contribution is too small to make a big difference.

Would you like one of our Speakers team to come and talk to you?

If you are a teacher at a school, or a member of a club or society we would be delighted to come and talk to you about the work Samaritans do.  Please contact us on 07933 958004.

Local Action Saves Lives Campaign

We are calling on everyone who cares about preventing suicide to step up and ask for action in their own communities by emailing their councillors.  Its really easy!  You just need to enter your contact details on the Samairtans website https://goo.gl/qZA3uj and we will tell you who your councillor is and even provide suggested text for you.

    18th October 2017
We would like to officially welcome our latest Listening Volunteers to our branch. They have successfully completed Samaritans Initial Training giving up much of their time to achieve this. Also thanks to the Recruitment team, led by Eileen, and the SIT1 Training team, led by Annie, for the time and organisational skills they and their teams have devoted to the recruitment/training of more volunteers. Additional volunteers means more calls/contacts will be answered.
