How we can help
Our volunteers provide emotional support via telephone and email.
Our Prison team provide training to prisoners at HMP Lincoln to become prison listeners. We then offer them support on a weekly basis as part of our national prisons programmes.
Welcome to Lincoln Samaritans
Listening Roles -
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions we have been unable to offer as many interviews and training places as usual, this has meant we have a high number of people on our waiting list, so we are requesting you to please delay applying to volunteer at our branch. We really appreciate your willingness to offer your services and we are looking forward to saying ‘Welcome’ soon, so please watch this space.
Support Roles -
We would welcome applications from people interested in volunteering at our branch in a support role. If you would like to help us with fundraising, outreach or property maintenance please email [email protected]
We have about 50 volunteers. They listen to our callers, mostly on the phone but also by answering e-mails. We also welcome people to come to the branch and talk to us face to face, when we are open. Lincoln Samaritans also supports a listening service at Her Majesty's Prison Lincoln and provides an outreach service in the local community, to raise awareness of emotional wellbeing and good mental health.
We have to raise all of our operating costs and do a lot of fundraising. We are keen to encourage people from our local community to get involved with raising funds for our branch.
If you have a little time to spare, why not apply to be a volunteer. There are lots of different roles from administration to listening to callers and we would love to welcome you to our team. Just click on the link below.
