Leek Branch of Samaritans are proud to be supported by Clive Pearson, President of the British Institute of Funeral Directors in his fund raising events this year.
Clive is doing the 3 peaks challenge in our honour and will have other fundraising events throughout the year.
This is what Clive has to say about his fund-raising event.
"Each year, the National President of the British Institute of Funeral directors (BIFD) selects a charity that resonates with our profession's values of compassion and care. This year, we are proud to stand behind Samaritans.
In our line of work, we are often the ones called upon when a life is lost to suicide. We see the devastating impact on families, the unanswered questions, and the profound grief left behind. Because we witness the finality of these tragedies, we feel a deep, professional responsibility to help prevent them.
We know that a single conversation can be the difference between life and death. By supporting Samaritans, we are helping to ensure that when someone is in their darkest hour, there is always a voice at the end of the line to offer hope. "
The Challenge: The Yorkshire Three Peaks
To raise money for the cause, a dedicated group of BIFD and friends will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, trekking 24 miles, climbing over 5000 feet across Pen-Y-Gent, Whernside and Ingleborough within a 12 hour window. Just as Samaritans provide a climb out of the darkness for those in crisis, we are pushing ourselves physically to raise the vital funds they need to keep their 24/7 service going. Your donation doesn't just fund a telephone line, it funds a lifeline. Every pound raised helps Samaritans answer another call.
