Inverclyde Branch has been running since 1992. We currently have 28 volunteers and 2 support workers. As we are a small branch we train new volunteers once a year.
In the Community
As well as supporting our callers, we support the Listener scheme in HMP Greenock. The Listeners were introduced to prisons in 1991 and are specially trained prisoners who do the same work as Samaritans offering emotional support to prisoners in need. We also provide support to local homeless lunch club on the first Friday of each month. We regularly deliver talks and presentations to local schools, raising awareness of emotional health in young people.
Inverclyde Samaritans attended SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide) football event on Sunday 25th June at Ferguslie Park, Paisley.
We also deliver talks to local organisations who are interested in learning about our work. If you would like us to talk to your club or society please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us using the General Enquiries form.
