Samaritans volunteers are ordinary people. We come from all walks of life and all backgrounds and cultures, but we have one thing in common: we are all very good listeners.
To ensure that we are able to continue to offer support to those in need we are looking for listening volunteers who can spare a few hours each week. You don’t need any formal qualifications, just a natural ability to listen non-judgementally and offer emotional support. All volunteers receive special training in listening skills with eight 3 hours modules over several weeks and are then paired with a mentor for their initial shifts.
We are also looking for support volunteers who play an integral part in keeping our branch running. Support volunteers help out as Treasurer and Chairman of the committee and with IT, branch administration, publicity and branch housekeeping.

We are always looking for new volunteers for both listening and support roles, so whatever skills you have to offer, please do get in touch by sending an email to us at [email protected].
