Ploughing match 2025

This year marked our fourth appearance at the ploughing match, this time it was held in Lancing.

A wonderful day out among the farming community.

The site was extensive, and took a good 40 minutes to walk around and chat to stall holders and visitors.

There was a temptation to go on the funfair, but we focused on the role that we were there for. We held many chats with the farming community with plenty of people saying how important the Samaritans are and how we have helped them in the past.

Since 1871 The West Grinstead & District Ploughing and Agricultural Society, AKA West Grinstead ploughing match and Agricultural Show has been promoting best practice in the local agricultural community through its prizes and awards. Our landscape is one of the most important building blocks of our nation’s heritage, identity, food and energy production and it is wholly dependent on the life given to it by our farmers, rural skills workers and rural communities.
