Here are a few facts about me: I am married to a fellow volunteer, I have two sons and two young grandsons, I work as a Patient Service Manager in a GP Surgery, my hobbies include, cake decorating, reading, gardening and walking. When I reached 60 I decided there were some things I had never done which I needed to try. So far I have had a go at Clay Pigeon Shooting, Dry Stone Walling and horse-riding. Next on my list is archery and tandem hand-gliding – hubby not too keen on me trying that one!
I have been a volunteer for nearly 4 years, taking on the role of Branch Director in March 2019. The best things about Harrogate volunteers are the way we support each other and our ‘can do’ attitude… (I have yet to ask anyone to do something and they say no!). Being a Samaritan is rewarding and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to volunteer in a role where they can make a difference. Of course it can be challenging at times but the training we get before we take on any listening is second to none. Harrogate Branch is bursting at the seams with wonderful supportive volunteers’ maybe you’d like to find out more and consider coming to join us?
