We are incredibly grateful to share that one of our much valued volunteers, David 687 (on the right together with Lynda 280 and Nick 432), is taking fundraising to new heights this 1 May 2026.
Alongside his company, Brickfield Construction, David will be doing a skydive to raise an ambitious £5,000 for Samaritans Guildford.
David is a committed member of our branch, giving his time and care to support callers when they need it most. Now he is quite literally stepping outside his comfort zone to help ensure we can continue to be there for others.
Why this matters
Every donation, no matter the size, has a direct impact:
- Around £10 can help Samaritans answer a call from someone struggling to cope
- £50 could help cover the cost of training and supporting a listening volunteer
- £100 helps keep our helpline running for around an hour
Every day, Samaritans volunteers respond to thousands of calls for help. In fact, across the UK and Ireland, Samaritans answer a call for help every few seconds, day and night, 365 days a year.
For many people, reaching out is a huge step. Being there to listen, without judgement, can be life changing.
How you can support David
If you are able to support David’s challenge, whether through a donation or by spreading the word, it would make a real difference.
Fundraising like this helps ensure that Samaritans Guildford can continue to be there, day and night, for anyone who needs someone to listen.
David, we are hugely grateful and more than a little in awe. We will be cheering you on all the way.
