Paul is raising funds for Great Yarmouth Samaritans
Paul has been a volunteer at Great Yarmouth Samaritans for 40 years and in that time he has seen lots of changes. But one thing that has remained constant is the amazing work that the Samaritans do. He is proud to be a Samaritan.
Paul has been a regular attendee of the Samaritan's National Walks - he has completed over 20 of them - but this year, with the absence of a summer National Walk. Paul is doing his own.
On Wednesday 4th June, Paul sets out from the historic naval town of Southwold, through Lowestoft and finishing in the seaside town of Gorleston. Approximately 20 miles.
The walk will pass through Covehithe and Benacre National Nature Reserve, breeding place for eels and Sand Martins. The cliff erosion has been a major problem in this area, so the walk will mostly be on beaches. The walk forms part of the Suffolk Coastal Path.
Passing through Kessingland, famous for its large shingle beach and wild flora, before reaching Pakefield and its remains of WWII defences and, more recently, holiday chalets.
We then reach Lowestoft, with its famous pier and sandy beaches.
Onto Ness Point, the most easterly point in Britain.
After passing, holiday villages and concrete sea defences, we take the steps to rejoin the Cliff Coastal Path. Onto Hopton and passing Potter's Holiday Park, home to the World Bowling Championships.
The last section, sees us arrive in Gorleston, famous filming location of 'Yesterday', and finishing at the James Paget Hospital. Hopefully not needing their services!
