Our branch encouraged the local community to break open the biscuits and have real conversations for its annual Brew Monday campaign, which aims to dispel the myth of ‘Blue Monday’.
It follows a recent survey by Samaritans which found one in five people never talk about their feelings (18%). We spent time at the railway stations and also at a local residential home.
Samaritans is centred on the power of human connection and this awareness campaign encourages people to come together and have a conversation with someone they are worried about, because it could save a life.
Samaritans answer a call every 10 seconds and know first hand that when someone shares how they feel, it can be life-changing. Brew Monday is an opportunity for everyone to check in with those they care about, making time to ask how they are really feeling. It might seem simple to some or impossible to others, but we know the difference it can make to someone who is struggling.
Brew Monday is all about popping on those kettles, breaking out those bourbons and turning small talk into big talk. It can save someone’s life.
